Title: Treatment at Clinics
Post by: admann on 2008-01-20 22:02
What has really riled me through the whole fertility treatment process is that for the most part, clinicians and doctors alike tend to treat men like "the sperm" and don't have the courtesy to acknowledge us by name. Granted that, for the most part, it is our wives (or partners) that are being poked and proded but we are going through the process too. Would it be so difficult to acknowledge a couple in the clinic instead of just the wife?

I had this out with our doctor during our last visit... We will see if things change - she did look a little sheepish!

I agree totally with you.It takes both sperm and egg to make a child. And we have to go through our wives ups and downs emotionally.I keep hearing how couples break up because of the stress of infertility. We should be cannonized for sticking around.

I actually like going to the clinic with my wife at least I feel as though I am doing something for her - maybe its with her which I really mean. In the waiting room is the worst for me I just put my head into the paper and smile politley at anyone who catchers my eye.
All the guys seem to do the same - sometimes I wonder if they feeling the same as I am.

It depends what we are going to the clinic for - if it is another consultation I go in there with a note book now - questions at the ready. I have learnt from previous visits walking out and kicking myself that I have not asked something I/we wanted to know and then feeling a real ............head especially with my wife - the embarresment. dam...
Anyway must go - stay as cool as you can fellow travellers
